I Stared the ‘B’ Word in the Face.

Bankruptcy. I couldn’t even say the word. When someone first suggested it to me, I sat in the parking lot and cried. After I learned more about it, I made the decision NOT to go through it and fight to recover, the hard way.

All of this happened in 2012, towards the end of the Great Recession. We had these massive projects at the beginning of the summer. By the end, the projects and the contracts just stopped. Gone. Nothing. After using every means I had to keep the company afloat, I had to make the tough decision to lay off my friends, folks who have said, ‘we’re here for you through thick and thin.’ But it just got too thin. It was hard and it was incredibly scary. I learned a lot about myself during this painful time.

I also learned about these four critical factors that are essential for entrepreneurs to have in their back pocket and they embark and move through this life called: entrepreneurship.
